Long before the move became a staple in modern basketball, God Shammgod (born Shammgod Wells) became the namesake of the crossover now known as the “Shammgod.” Wearing his signature No. 12 jersey, he starred as a point guard for Providence College in the mid-1990s, earning Big East All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman and setting a Big East freshman assist record. In 1997, he helped the Friars reach the Elite Eight.
