Fulton Reed is one of the most memorable characters from the Mighty Ducks trilogy. Early Days

Born around 1979 in Stillwater, Minnesota, Fulton Reed was initially an outsider with a rough exterior. He first encounters the District Five Middle School hockey team when he defends them from their rivals, the Hawks. Despite his intimidating presence and powerful slapshot, Fulton is reluctant to join any team due to his lack of skating skills.

Joining The Ducks

Fulton's journey with the Mighty Ducks begins when Coach Gordon Bombay recruits him after witnessing his incredible slapshot power. Although hesitant at first—citing that only one out of five shots are accurate—Bombay convinces him to join District 5 (later known as the Mighty Ducks). His initial struggles with skating are quickly overshadowed by his contributions on ice as he becomes an essential part of their defense.

The Bash Brothers

One of Fulton's most significant relationships within the team is with Dean Portman. Together they form "The Bash Brothers," known for their physical style and ability to energize both teammates and fans alike. Their camaraderie extends off-ice as well; bonding over heavy metal music and shared interests makes them inseparable.

The duo's chemistry is evident in their on-ice antics, where they often engage in playful yet effective bashing of opponents. This not only boosts the team's morale but also intimidates their rivals. Their partnership reaches new heights during the rematch against Iceland in D2: The Mighty Ducks, where they are so impressed by Kenny Wu's performance that they unofficially induct him as a fellow "Bash Brother."

Life After Hockey

After his time with the Mighty Ducks, Fulton Reed transitions into adulthood and takes up a career as a construction worker. Despite moving away from hockey, he never forgets his roots or the impact Coach Bombay had on his life. In The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Fulton reunites with Bombay under ironic circumstances—accidentally smashing one of Bombay's car windows while working.

This reunion leads to an invitation for Coach Bombay to join the old team at Twin City Slice and attend the Spirit of the Ducks gala. Although initially put off by Coach Bombay's dismissive attitude towards their past, Fulton's loyalty shines through when he learns that Bombay was not invited to the gala due to embarrassment from the committee. He rallies his former teammates to bring Coach Bombay back and interrupts Stephanie’s speech to highlight how great of a Coach Bombay truly was

Behind The Scenes

Elden Henson, who portrayed Fulton Reed, was only 13 years old when filming began for The Mighty Ducks. Standing taller than most of his co-stars at 5'10", Elden brought an imposing presence to Fulton's character. Interestingly enough, Elden did much of his own hockey playing in both sequels—only using stunt doubles for big hits or second-unit shots.

Another fun fact is that Elden Henson and Garette Ratliff Henson (who played Guy Germaine) are real-life brothers! To make this less obvious on screen, production colored Fulton's hair brown.

Fulton Reed’s Playing Style

Fulton Reed’s playing style is characterized by his powerful slapshot and physical presence on ice. Unlike Dean Portman who primarily serves as an enforcer, Fulton can switch between forward positions or act as a powerhouse enforcer depending on what strategy best suits them during matches.

Legacy Of The Bash Brothers

The legacy left behind by "The Bash Brothers" continues even into modern adaptations like The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. A newer duo dubbed "Smash Siblings" appears in Season 2 composed of Adib "Sam" Samitar & Gertie Willins—showing how influential characters like Fulton & Dean have been over generations within this beloved franchis!
